Stocksfield Avenue Primary School

Stocksfield Avenue is a two-form entry foundation primary school for boys and girls aged 3-11 years, and one of the larger primaries in Newcastle. It was built in 1957 and rebuilt as part of the Local Authority’s PFI project in 2008. It is situated in St Cuthbert's Road, Fenham in the west end of Newcastle upon Tyne.  The school serves a varied catchment area.

The school is light, modern and spacious with excellent ICT facilities, Performing Arts spaces and a large, multi-purpose hall for P.E. and assemblies. It is surrounded by extensive, attractive grounds. All classrooms have direct access to the outdoors and play areas. There is a Children's Centre on the school site which operates a daily breakfast club and after schools clubs. There is also a pre-school playgroup for 2 year olds.

Our school was one of the first to achieve the Eco Schools Green Flag Award and sustainability is a major feature of the school ethos. The school also has a number of other awards including Leading Parent Partnerships Award, International School and Healthy School status. Performing Arts are a strength of the school, supported by a music and drama room linked to the Main Hall, and indoor and outdoor performance spaces.

We believe that family involvement is very important and actively develop links with parents and we   encourage their participation in school life. Consequently parents are very supportive of the school

We provide a secure, caring and exciting environment which enables pupils to become effective, independent learners.  Pupils are encouraged to take responsibility in and around the school. Our pupils are happy and enjoy school.

It is our aim to bring the school to the centre of the community; that all parents, staff, Governors, pupils and neighbours work towards a shared understanding of education, and play a part in the school’s successes
