Potential Scam Threat to some Newcastle Schools

The Central Office have been advised by some schools that an email has been sent to their admin
accounts. In response to this the Academy Trust schools have advised the risk and resilience team at the local authority and also liaison has taken place with the Academy Trust critical incident lead. We have been advised that the police have been involved and this is their response and guidance to regarding the matter. The Academy Trust critical incident lead has also concurred with this guidance.

To: All Newcastle Schools – Potential scam email received by schools in Newcastle.
 
Northumbria Police Detectives have carried out an assessment of the emails received by some schools this morning and can confirm that there is no viable threat.
 
Northumbria Police take all incidents of this nature extremely seriously and an investigation into the emails in question are underway. If anyone has any information about the hoax then they should contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting log 218 19/03/18.
