Mountfield is a foundation primary school for boys and girls aged 3-11 years. It was built in 1956 and is situated on the corner of Halewood Avenue and Kirkwood Drive, North Kenton. The school buildings are spacious and bright. There is a well equipped PC suite and a well stocked library. A special room houses a number of resources, as well as offering space for small groups to learn music, cook and enjoy extension work. The school has a large field for games and other recreational activities.
The school has strong links with Sure Start and Sure Start Northmoor is located in the grounds of the school, providing excellent information, services and support for parents of children under in the area 5 . The school also has the benefit of an independent Pre-School and Creche. A daily breakfast club runs every morning for children Y1 – Y6 and there is a variety of after school clubs. The school has links with schools in China and USA and has obtained an International School Status award. It also has accreditation from the Investing in Children scheme.
We are a lively and forward looking school with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and enthusiastic and motivated staff. We encourage all staff, parents/carers and children to work together as a team, with both open and individual discussions welcoming new ideas. Pupils are encouraged to reach their personal best in Literacy and Numeracy, to have a positive attitude, be able to work independently and have a good set of morals and a desire to learn. The school incorporates lots of creative activities with children able to express themselves through drama and other such mediums.
We are committed to developing positive attitudes among pupils with children and staff treating each other politely and with respect. Children are encouraged to listen to each other and value the opinions of others, being open to new ideas and having the confidence to express their own opinions.
