The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an EU regulation that came into force on 25th May 2018 requiring all organisations to identify changes that need to be made to achieve GDPR compliance in their personal data processing activities. The regulation puts individuals in control of their personal data, allowing them to choose how (and whether) businesses use their data. 
The GDPR provides the following rights for individuals:
  • The right to be informed
  • The right of access
  • The right to rectification
  • The right to erasure
  • The right to restrict processing
  • The right to data portability
  • The right to object
  • Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling.
